We’re thrilled today to celebrate the first anniversary of Alisa & Brian. They headed back to Veritas to celebrate their first year of wedded bliss so we were able to get together for lunch on Friday to catch up a bit and of course to chat some about their wedding. Here’s what they had to say:

My favorite pics capture the beauty of that day. From the time I walked down the aisle, arm in arm with my amazing parents to the time Brian and I walked back up, hand in hand, married, underneath the pink sunset that I had always dreamed about (and i think sent especially for us by my Oma). It was an incredible ceremony and incredible moment.

Brian’s favorites represent 2 very important parts of the day that he will never forget. That moment of seeing each other for the {first} time overlooking those stunning blue ridge mountains(Thanks Anne for the BEST idea EVER!) and seeing our hand made huppah for the first time. They were the crux of that fabulous day.

From them both:
We think the vineyard shot really captures our wedding and all that we what we hoped and dreamed of and more. It’s exactly what we envisioned. Gorgeous fall in the blue ridge mountains surrounded by vineyard – how can you get any better than that??? That is our happy place. We also both love the image of Brian’s head in the forground, waiting for me walking towards him. Both looking straight ahead at each other.

Finally, I think the last picture of us in our “surprise” getaway car, captures the fun we had during that unbelievable party! I couldn’t believe it was over, but I remember that being a pretty awesome way to say goodnight to our friends and family!

Update on our life: “From Honeymoon to Babymoon”
It’s been an eventful year to say the least. We’ve grown together in supporting one another through hard times and now through the best and most exciting time of all: awaiting the arrival of our son, due in January. We are beyond thrilled and cant believe how how blessed we’ve been in one short year. We will never take that for granted! Attached is a picture of us on our “babymoon” in Key West.

Oh, and of course we couldn’t get away without taking a shot with our phone of the happy couple:

It was so great seeing you again last week, you two and we can’t wait to meet your baby boy soon! Congratulations!

Once again, we arrive to today thinking, holy cow is it Friday already? I’m beginning to sound like a broken record. But hey, Fridays often mean a great wedding to share, and today’s no exception. Enjoy Stephanie and Shane’s celebration, and have yourselves a great weekend!

Once again Pat’s Floral Designs hit it out of the park with one of our favorite bridal bouquets of all time! Okay, so we have lots of favorites. ;-D

These two were steaming up our lenses. Seriously. Hot.

Stephanie & Shane met while in the Army and we LOVED her camouflage pumps!

Distracting the flower girl until it’s time to walk. Always a classic, this time with a modern twist. 🙂

It just so happened to also be Stephanie’s mom’s birthday, so they celebrated with a surprise cake for her.

Dear s&s,

Okay, so we don’t think we’ve laughed so hard or so often at a wedding as much as we did while documenting yours. Heck, we’re still laughing! The dry humor and endless jokes between the two of you and your families by themselves kept a smile on our faces all day. Because it was, after all, “our day”–how could it not? It was so cool how you displayed for all the nascent email conversations between Shane and your Dad, Stephanie, using wording and a sense of humor only a servicemember or veteran could fully appreciate. Its display at the tisch set the mood for the day for your arriving guests, as they flit back and forth between the energetic tisch and your sweet bedecken. We also loved the look your parents gave you during the processional, just before you circled each other at the very beginning of your ceremony. Parents could not have been happier nor more proud.

And just in case your friends weren’t sure if you were serious about your party that night, we’re certain your hora set a record for longevity  in a dance. Whew! Heck, our arms are still tired! Despite the evening’s little unexpected glitches, you took everything in stride and rose to dance the night away. We so enjoyed spending the day with you, celebrating with your families, and wish so much that you didn’t live so far away. Thank you for inviting us to be a part of your celebration, allowing us into your lives for this brief moment to document it all for you. We had an absolute blast and we wish you many, many years of laughter together.

Peace & love…

Sara and Matt’s wedding, among the very first at Charlottesville’s newest (and gorgeous!) Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards, is now featured on our very own Charlottesville Wedding Blog! We’re excited to see their beautiful Summer wedding featured – it’s so fun getting to see it and relive it again. Thanks so much, Claire!

Wow, is it Friday already? Well, you know what that means, another fabulous wedding to share with you all. So enjoy every bit of Amy & Tim’s sweet (and incredibly fun) wedding, and have a fantastic (and safe) holiday weekend. We’ll see you next week!

Should there be a Where’s the Dress book like Where’s Waldo? 😉 Love, love this shot Anne got of the dress reflected in one of the club’s framed prints!

If you can make faces at your ring bearer waiting to process, you really should.

Their ring bearer was more enthusiastic about his walk down the aisle the day prior, but he made it in the end, as Tim and his dad react below.

LOVE everything about this image that Bill got as Amy hugged her Dad at the alter.

Married! Love this shot by Anne.

It was hot. Damn hot! Thankfully, their limo had strategically-placed air-conditioning vents just for times like this.

More fun with reflections! Love it!

Alright, time for a quick nap. For some.

Certainly not for others…

This is Joe (carrying unnamed young woman). He’s not only one of the groomsmen but also the brother of Tony, whose marriage to Sara we just shot up in Delaware and can’t wait to share with you! Below is Emily, his wife. It was awesome seeing them twice in three weeks! Such a fun couple.

Tim’s mom was completely taken by surprise by the groomsmen picking her up for a quick aerial lap around the dance floor.

Yea, really love this one, too. 🙂

Dear a&t,

We usually get a good feel for how important family is to a couple, especially when a couple’s choice of clergy is the person who married the bride’s parents 37 years prior. That kind of legacy and dedication to family roots demonstrates such strength and help to provide such a strong foundation as you start your married life together. And that strength, love, laughter and faith was in ample evidence at your wedding.

People will naturally assume photographers have to keep a keep eye on their subjects to capture the decisive moment. And that’s true. But it’s just as important to keep an ear on them as well for those audible cues for emotional reactions. We got those in spades at your wedding. Amy, your Dad’s welcome was so touching and gracious and we loved how he went and stood by the people he was talking about and thanking. Your best man and maid of honor toasts were sweet and funny, and finally, to the toasts you offered to each other; truly heartfelt. You spoke of how a match you were for one another, and everyone listening could feel it in their heart. Hardly a dry eye in the house.

All of that of course was balanced by the incredibly hot dance floor you hosted! There were more people lifted up in the air than at any wedding we’ve seen, and you know you had a party that refused to end when so many of your friends awaited the train of taxis to take them to the Corner to continue the night’s festivities. It was so much fun and we’d have not had it any other way. Congrats again, and thanks so much for having us out to document your wedding!

Peace & love…

Happy Friday everybody! You haven’t seen much on the blog of late because we’ve been so darn busy and right about now we’re wondering how we’ve found ourselves in the middle of a studio renovation, website & blog redesign in the middle of wedding season…hmmmm, not sure what we were thinking there, but we’re about to unleash a whole mess of fun times and great imagery. Today we start off with Ben & Deena’s all-smiles celebration.

Dear d&b,

All smiles. That’s pretty much how you and your wedding could be summed up. We loved how, moments after you saw each other for the first time that day, you held hands and walked over to a nearby bench to sit and chat for a spell. Deena, when your dad saw you in your gown a short bit later, we reveled in the emotion of the moment and were thrilled to capture more tender moments between you and your families. It was abundantly clear not only how much you cared for each other, but your families as well. It wasn’t just your wedding, but the coming together of two loving, faith filled families and if that isn’t cause for celebration, we don’t know what is. Both of your parents’ long marriages have provided such a solid foundation for you both as you begin this new life together.

Deena, even though it was a very warm day, we got goosebumps when you and your parents took a quite moment together to embrace and pray prior to entering the chapel and we love that both of them walked you down the aisle to meet your groom.  Oh, and wasn’t that afternoon light in the Chapel beautiful? You know we’re suckers for good light. And, Ben, we couldn’t help but laugh at how excited your Mom was before and after the ceremony. We adore that shot of you both celebrating with her just afterward. Your wedding day was the perfect blend of touching seriousness combined with laugh-out-loud, fun.

It was especially evident when you and your wedding party ran into the Veritas ballroom NBA-style, complete with official arm and sweat bands. The energy continued though to the dancing–at the end of last year we ran various contests for 2010 Superlatives. One category was the best alternative use of a necktie, and we think there were a couple of contenders for next year’s contest alone from that evening!

Good light. Touching moments. Ebullient joy. Yup, those might just be all your wedding photographers need to feed them. Our souls anyway. ;-D

Such fun. Thank you so much for having us out to document your Summer celebration and congratulations on your marriage!

Peace & love…

Ok, so admit it, you’re probably playing hooky from work right now and heading off to the beach. We’re there with you in spirit! We hope you enjoyed part 1 of Tori and Nick’s wedding, and are happy to share more from their BHLDN-inspired celebration. Get ready for some serious eye-candy & sweet moments!

Congratulations, Tori & Nick!!! Have a great weekend everyone!

Happy Friday everyone! We’re back in the office today after an incredible shoot out at Clifton Inn (more on that to come!) and a quick out of town trip, to share with you Tori and Nick’s amazingly beautiful wedding. And to answer email. Lots and lots of email. So sit back, relax, and enjoy T&N’s celebration starting now…

Tori’s stunning BHLDN dress…just wait ’till you see it on her!

Her party dress!

Yup, Nick couldn’t take his eyes off of her either.

There are no words to describe how beautiful Tori is. Seriously, like we’ve been looking at the thesaurus and we just couldn’t find anything.

Love, love, love the smiles on this one!

Dear t&n,

Not only were we incredibly excited to share this wedding, we couldn’t actually wait for it to happen! It was so nice to see all of your guests enjoying all that Keswick Hall had to offer over your wedding weekend, setting the mood of relaxed elegance in preparation for your celebration. All brides look beautiful on their wedding day (how could they not, they’re in love and that utter happiness seems to make them glow from within), but Tori, it’s a good thing Keswick overlooks a golf course and not a major highway, because you literally would have been stopping traffic! Your custom BHLDN gown fit you and your personality so perfectly. Everyone, especially Nick, couldn’t take his eyes off of you during the ceremony–trust us, we were watching! 😉 The rolling hills provided the perfect backdrop for your ceremony.

Later that evening, your dinner tent looked like something out of a full bloom Summer garden, everything from your wedding weekend was so thoughtful and showed your guests how much their presence meant to you all. We loved the bowls of fresh peaches and the antique keys tied with a sweet array of colored ribbon at each place setting were a big hit. We saw young and old alike wrapping them around their wrists or hanging from their necks as they danced to the cool sounds of Big Ray & the Kool Kats.

Your wedding for us was like a family reunion of friends and former clients, too! It was so cool getting to see you and so many of your friends again after Maya’s and Taylor’s weddings. And while we got a taste of this among your friends especially at Maya’s wedding, we got a reminder that you all can get down! There are a number of moments we captured we can’t wait to share with you in part 2, and several more that we probably shouldn’t post on the blog, but you’ll still get to see them. 😉 Needless to say, it was very clear that everyone was having a great time that night!

Your entire day was filled with love and relaxation and and tenderness and joy and colorful beauty. We were thrilled to be a part of it. Thank you for choosing us to help celebrate with you and document your day.
