We’re so excited to blog Laura & Scott’s gorgeous wedding today! They were married on an amazing Fall day in Charlottesville and celebrated in style with all their friends and family by their side. It was the first time in a while we had shot a ceremony in the University of Virginia chapel, and it was nice to return to the place that is held dear by so many of our UVa alum. Laura, wearing a fabulous Anne Barge gown, was lucky enough to have Scott’s mom, an incredible seamstress, add some beautiful embellishments that made an already elegant dress really come to life. As if that weren’t enough, Scott’s mom also made all of the bridesmaids dresses which tied in nicely to the brilliant fall colors around us that day.
During the ceremony, Laura had accidentally placed Scott’s ring on his right hand, and laughed about it afterwards while her mom was around. Her mom, Laura learned at that moment, had done the exact same thing at her ceremony many years before. So wild and talk about kismet! (There was a lot of personalization elsewhere in the day, too as Scott’s dad wore the vintage tux he often wears when playing in his band, and Scott’s brother took his sax out of its case during the reception for a solo with everyone swaying to the groove. Laura wore her mom’s veil and wrapped her grandmother’s hankerchief around her bouquet for safe-keeping.)
After the ceremony and family photos with the chapel as the backdrop, we headed over to the lawn with the happy couple. What a blast! Laura is absolutely stunning and Scott isn’t so bad himself! We had a great time and were just so touched by them. Seeing a couple so completely and utterly in love just makes us warm and fuzzy inside. It’s truly a beautiful thing.
The couple had arranged for a vintage convertible, quite the sweet ride, to take them from the chapel to Veritas Vineyard, where we’ve had a lot of fun lately both with weddings and hanging out with friends. In fact, Laura has enjoyed working at the winery part-time on weekends so the staff there was understandably excited to be a part of the action (many of them as guests this time instead of working the event)!
Perhaps the highlight of the evening’s entertainment wasn’t necessarily the band, The Moonlighters, which was really good, but Laura & Scott’s very lively choreographed (by the talented Robin Grimsley) first dance (complete with lifts). It was so much fun to watch and document, and everyone in the ballroom was amazed at their choreography. The cheering was loud and contagious! The gorgeous, soaring ballroom at Veritas was beautifully decorated by Finishing Touch and once again we tasted the ever-so-moist cakes of Teri Edwards of Cakes Unlimited. Have we mentioned how much we *love* what we do? 🙂
We had such a wonderful day with great weather and awesome light (such is the beauty of having a late fall wedding), and it was just so much fun to be a part of Laura & Scott’s wedding celebration. Thank you, both of you, for having us out to document your day. We absolutely loved it!
Sometimes we can’t decide whose shot to include, so this time we both get one. Here’s Bill’s take on this moment…
and Anne’s…
So which one do you like better? ;-D
And now, of course, some yummy eye candy…

Beautiful pictures! Thank you for sharing. Interested in taking more? I am getting married at the Chapel in May 2010 and am looking for a great photographer and suggestions on brightening up the chapel.
